Valkyrie.

Valkyrie

Alright, as the title shows, this true story happened during Hitler's monarchy of Germany many years ago. There were many people in the upper ranks of Germany Army conspire to assassinate Hitler, overthrowing the current government while replacing it with another one that will attempt to make peace with the allies they were currently at war with.

Operation Valkyrie
was a contingency plan to mobilize the German Reserve Army in events of internal disturbance or national emergency.

In the story, COL Stauffenberg, acted by Tom Cruise rewrites Operation Valkyrie to carry out a coup d'etat in attempt to replace Hitler's government in Germany by taking control of Berlin, the Heart of Germany.

The plan was carried out by many high ranking officials, with COL Stauffenberg taking the lead of the plan by planting one of the two bombs, in attempt to assassinate Hitler in a meeting. For more information, I do recommend you to watch this movie, especially if you're someone that loves History during Secondary School or just happen to be interested in Germany's History. This show is a MUST WATCH as well!!

In short, i can only say the plan thought of by COL Stauffenberg was close to flawless, if only everyone in the group trusted in his judgment preventing all the delays, the plan might just pull off and successfully take control of Hitler's government in Berlin! But of course, if you really did listen during History lessons, you will know that Hitler didn't die from any assassination, but died from suicide after the allies conquered into Germany.

Movies
Movies

After lazing for a few days, I went to catch another movie with a few long time friends since Secondary School. So might as well just put it together since i'm doing it!

Initially, the plan was to watch
Role Models, another movie that is also currently showing, but since I already got the DVD version at home, so we decided to watch something else instead, and since none of them watch this other show, He's Just Not That Into You.

This show belongs to the Love Comedy genre i would believe so. In this story, a group of twenty- and thirty somethings navigate their various relationship from dating couples, married couples and those trying to read the signs of the opposite sex, hoping to be the exception in the no-exception rule.

By watching this, it was supposed to be able to help many Singles in this world solve many mysteries, and understand the opposite gender better through the different scenario and examples displayed in the movie. Personally, as most of them are based from true life experiences, so it actually seemed very similar to what I have been through, although not all ended up the same way cause different people react differently in different situation, thus causing different effects. Hopefully it wasn't too hard to understand, so why not catch this movie as well if you have an itch to catch some comedy.

I hope i don't turn my blog into some Movie review entry, so hopefully i will be able to write up more interesting things happening in my life!! Wish me luck!

Slumdog Millionaire
Who wants to be a millionaire?

It was just probably a year or two ago that this reality show was a hit in the US, and later on spread to the rest of the world! Just went to watch this new hit movie, Slumdog Millionaire with my parents. Before i went to watch the movie, i was watching the Academy Awards on TV, and it's shouldn't be surprising to see this movie basically sweeping majority of the awards. Something that should be a definite MUST watch.

A short brief on the show for those who have yet watch, the story talks about two young boy living in the slums with their mother. Also shows the poor living & education condition over there as well. The story continues after the mother was killed and how they escaped the killing, along with a girl who managed to keep up with them. They were soon 'rescued' from an organization that uses children, especially disabling them to generate more income. It was until the head of the organization decided to disable the younger brother, when the elder brother made an escape along with the younger brother.

The movie also show a several scenes of the reality hit, Who wants to be a millionaire?! The main actor was brought to the police station for "cheating" in this reality show, as he was just an eighteen year old without any former education.

When he got the 1 million rupees question correct, i thought the show ended so fast until i realised that the show is until 20 million rupees. I supposed majority of the people who watch it will agree with me in this statement!

Overall it was proven he got all the answers correct by himself, due to the many experiences he had to endure in his life living in the slums. Even at one point when the host gave him an answer for the question that he didn't know of at the break, he didn't believe him and decided to take the risk against the answer provided by the host. Although it was also down to luck, but it was really smart of him to trust no one in that moment! All the transition in the show was great, including the songs played!

The show definitely deserved all awards won in the Academy Awards!! I would give it a 9/10 rating for the show! A MUST WATCH!!

Judgement.

FYP Presentation
Team iMob

This entry was supposed to be published much much earlier but due to my laziness part of me so had to be delayed till now.

Last Wednesday early morning was my Final Year Project Final presentation, in another words it means Judgement Day thus the title Judgement. Our group was the first to present, so had to wake up early and prepare. Anyway, was suppose to be expecting our clients from SAA department to join in the presentation but in the end none of them came, so there were just the four judges that was allocated by our school. Anyway, i shan't go too much into the details of the presentation and will just say briefly on how i feel about it.

Judging Room

If it's just talking about the presentation, it went on pretty smoothly and being the first group to be assessed by the judges, i could say we gave them a good impression of our project and progress. Even in the product demo, we managed to pull off a good demo for them to view and hopefully able to impress them. Our group consisted of four of us, three being the designer and me the only one as the programmer, able to pull this project off, i hope the judges can take this into consideration. Now that it's all over other than the Gradshow that will be coming up on March at Old School, more details will be out later in this entry. I shall just give some impression on my teammates here, as least its some truthful words from me whether they will read it or like it even if they do happen to read this entry.

Shi Nengyi (Project Leader):
Being group members for two years already, i guess all about your working style or personality i will already know about them i dare to say. Even your working standard and abilities, i could say i know all about them already. I should say i did regret coming in together as FYP groupmates at the start, but week after week of project work, maybe i should say i'm lucky that i'm in this group working in this project. All my late-comings, and MIA for the full three weeks during the holidays, you managed to get the team going on despite my absences in the programming area. Not that there was alot of progress though, but never mind la!! It's all over le!!

Samuel Chia (Creative Director/ Asst. Leader):
Though this project was the first time doing project work with you. I was glad to be able to work with you in this project. Though you were never the offical Creative Director, but i guess since most of the design work were done beautifully by you, plus all the work and effort you put in for this project, you definately deserve this position. Though i don't know how you think about me, personality and working abilities but even though we always seems to be quarrelling over nothing and me always seem to be bullying you like that, i hope you don't take it to heart and hopefully we will still be friends after this project unlike what we both said after the final presentation. Doubt anyone else but you will know what the hell i'm talking about here!! Hahahahah!

Lim Hongda (Designer):
This project was also my first time working together with you. Well, can't say that we were closer than just groupmates or gaming exchange friend, at least throughout this 18 weeks I got to know better of you. Sometimes, I admit that I am slacking during project time, but though you didn't complain about me i would like to say that being the only programmer wasn't an easy job. While most of you sleep early, or spend the time after project work playing games, i dare to say i was working on the project at home. Sometimes even to wee hours early in the morning, and had to wake up in the morning just to meet you guys up. After a few times, i thought it would be better if I had more rest and sleep so went i meet you guys in school, i would have more energy to do my work. I guess that's all except that maybe when the 4 colors production people come, you will be forced to listen to your darling complain everything about me! Well, since it's every bad i guess it's okay. LOLx

Jamie's Farewell
Family Picture with many people missing. . .

Last Saturday, had a farewell gathering at Pine Grove for my younger cousin that will be heading Australia for further studies. And if I didn't remember wrongly, the course is about speech therapy so I will wish her all the best in her studies there, and of course enjoy herself throughout the journey there as well!!

Also, my other two cousins did up a video photo gallery for everyone to see, before i went on to show mine for the Hainan Trip our family last went together. Had to work on my FYP for the past few weeks after we come back, so somehow managed to rush it out in 2 hours before going there. Judging the time spent on doing it, it's good enough for viewing pleasure at the very least!!

Alright, just display the rest of the photos taken.

Random Shot 1

Well, zooming in to today. Today is a good day to be happy about, not only our FYP group Team iMob submitted our whole project in a kinda completed interactive applications, it's the last day of Chinese New Year!! So taking this space here to wish everyone here a HAPPY 'NIU' YEAR if you still didn't get it from me.!! Hopefully everyone will be happy and getting all their wishes come through in this very new year!

I should be able to upload the Hainan Trip photos up here by tomorrow, so be prepared for a photo fest!!!

Cheerios!

For effort made to make my blog more active and lively again, it will be better to fill it with a post on a daily basis. So, for today, I shall be sharing about this web-based game called Marketplace. It's an interactive web game for my other module which actually replaces all the unwanted, redundant exams.

Basically, you are required to form a team of four to create a company, trying to get your name established in-game by dominating the market demands of the three segment in the game, Workhorse, Mercs & Traveler. While it display a more realistic form of web game, with many things to think about such as Brand Design, Advertisements, Sale & Web Offices, Human Resource, Manufacturing and most importantly the accounts of the company!

It was played in the span of 6-8 weeks of lessons where you make decisions for the company and wait for the result once every group has wrapped up their decision. And today is the day where the final outcome of the game will be known to all. As our group made several grave mistakes in the beginning, thus we were lacking behind seriously with a negative balanced scorecard for the first 3 quarters of the game. It was only until the 4th quarter, when we finally managed a positive score of about 0.43.

Fortunately my faith paid off with the smallest segment but the highest spending power saved our company during quarter 5, giving me a revenue of 18m for the company, with at least 4m cash flow to work on for the final round. And with such a high revenue, I managed to get a 9.68 rating for that quarter but including the previous 5 score, our current cumulative score was 0.99 still at last position in the class.

And if you think that the score didnt matter in this module, Daryl made it so clear in the class how the score is going to greatly affect your final grades. With the last position a definate F grade excluding all your other projects or efforts made in the game. Well, shan just beat around the bush already, after all the upgrades, R&D and development of the company, our Final Cumulative Score was 4.819 bringing us to the 4th/6th position in class. Though the final quarter didn't do any much impact that it did at quarter 5 considering us not doing much R&D due to heavy debts occured earlier in the game, I'm just glad to be able to bring a living from a dead company that suffered so much during 3/4 of the game, just having a glimmer of hope at the last two rounds to bring our final score and position to this level.

I just wanna thank my team members for their faith in my decision for the final two rounds, as i know it was a gamble to just depend on me. But of course as it paid off well, maybe could have been much better if i was willing to gamble a little more. Also would want to thank all the VCs that buy in our company shares, as if it wasn't for their money contribution, Singtech Co wouldn't have raise from the dead and they also won't be earning extra $3m if they gave $1m to us.

Alright, guess i just end this wordy blog entry here as i prepare for my final last battle tomorrow before the submission dateline!!

Cheers to all FYP TEAMs in DDM.. Let's go!

Count.

Counting down to less than 24 hours before the final submission of my Final Year Project(FYP).

Nervous? Excited?

Actually this feeling i have in me right now, describable is probably the only word i could think of that fits. All i know is that throughout this 18 weeks given for my FYP, i gave anything and everything in my ability and knowledge to complete it. So I have no complains whatsoever, just that hopefully i will be able to get something good out of this to boost my final score as my polytechnic life comes to an end in just weeks or rather just hours since after submission, what's left is just the final presentation and product showcase if the gradShow for our course is still on.

Not sure if anyone still reads over here nowadays, since my tag board has been very quiet since who knows when, but just bear with the wordy paragraphs for the last few entries as uploading of pictures has been compromise into doing something extra for my FYP or catching up some sleep! But of course, despite all the heavy workload laid down in front of me, I will somehow find some way to take a little breather out of everything, getting myself out of this reality world.

Just sacrificed some sleeping time to watch High School Musical 3 : Senior Year. Miss-ed the opportunity to catch it when it was out in the cinemas last November, so had to wait for the DVD version and watch it on my laptop. Followed the whole series of this High School Musical Series, while most of the scenes were predictable, including the 3rd series when they finally graduate from High School. I could imagine most of the scenes like what i should be expecting, maybe less the energy, the excitement of graduation from the show. But one thing for sure, I will definitely be missing times when i just entered Singapore Poly until now just few hours before i submit my FYP. All the times when meeting up new people, making new friends, forming brothers, countless of memories that I hold dear to yet maybe in such a realistic world in Singapore, maybe i shouldn't think too far and get back to reality world.

Tomorrow is also the last day of ECI, hopefully i can get my company out of debt and hopefully do well in the final two quarter, I'm confident. Are you?

Beginning.

It's the beginning of the month for many people now, or maybe its the start of another draggy start of the month after most of the pay are gone!! Even those studying, have either just started or preparing for exams for the end semester, for me, it's finally the last week of school i should be expecting! With just 4 more days before my final submission of my Final Year Project, I am only wishing things will progress as smooth as it will be, and of course end this poly lifestyle i had for the last three years.

Was busy during the first week of CNY, so didn't really find much time to blog so here i am blogging one entry out before i go to bed. Honestly, i do hope of some new beginnings in this new Ox year of 2009!! Routine lifestyle currently is boredom so maybe i need some new things to excite my little boring life!!

Anyway, speaking of something exciting. Last Saturday i had two classmates that were passing by my area so they came over since it's just around the corner. And they really came punctually at 9am, when I'm still dreaming in my bed. Fortunately for them, i managed to wake up and answer the door!! =) Alright, shall just cut it short and talk about that something exciting. . . as one of them had Basic Japanese class in the afternoon, and a sudden thought to go and crash that lesson since we are still meeting up later, so might as well! Was quite fun crashing lessons, as i certainly enjoyed myself in that lesson!! Might just go sign up for one Japanese class once I'm freed from my FYP.

Well, thinking back for the past few months, i do have quite a few new wish list that i might want to achieve before entering my BMT phrase. Let's see,

1. Safety Driving at SSDC (Basically teaches you how to drive the car in a more advanced technical skill like drifting that sort!)
2. Re-take my swimming course to Gold-Star Level
3. Lifesaving/Lifeguard License
4. Class 2B License
5. Jap Class

Actually there are many more, but this will be the top 5 priority list for now!! lol!
